    SPOTLIGHT

    HART HIGH SCHOOL

    MASCOT:

    Pirates

    MHSAA DIVISION:

    Division 3

    CONFERENCE:

    West Michigan Conference (WMC)

    HEAD COACH:

    Travis Rosema

    2019-2020 RECORD:

    19-5

    2019 SEASON RECAP:

Last year we finished 2nd in conference play (lost the deciding game in triple OT) behind Montague; won our second consecutive District title; lost to Manton in Regionals.

    RETURNING STARTERS:

Jayd Hovey- Junior, Kendall Williamson-junior, Aspen Boutell-sophomore, Rylee Noggle-Senior.

RETURNING PLAYERS  THAT YOU EXPECT TO BE KEY CONTRIBUTORS:

Jayd Hovey, who was HM All State as a Freshman and Sophomore, is entering her third season on varsity. The experience she gained the first two years and her hard work in the off season should translate into a good junior season.  Kendall Williamson, is also entering her third season on varsity.  Her first two seasons she made an immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball, this season she will be expected to provide scoring.  Aspen Boutell started to come into her own at the end of her Freshman season, we are hoping that growth continues.

    NEWCOMERS TO WATCH:

Morgan Marvin, Junior, played the last 7 games of the season on Varsity and did a nice job.  Morgan put in a lot of work on the court and weight room, we feel her size, 6’, and skill could generate some mismatches, but she will need to continue to get stronger.

Another player to watch is Sophomore Marianna VanAgtmael.  She is a scrappy player and has the ability to stretch the defense with her shooting.

    CONFERENCE AND/OR CITY RIVALS:

Our biggest rival is Shelby, which is just 5 miles south of Hart.  Another conference rival is Montague, 3 of the last 4 games with Montague have been decided by 5 points or less, including the triple OT game which determined who won the conference last year.

    KEY REGULAR SEASON GAMES:

Shelby and Montague.  We were currently scheduled to play Kent City -- not sure that this will happen due to shortened season.  Still looking to schedule some tough non conference games.

    SEASON GOALS:

Our goal has always been and will continue to be - win the last game of the season.  If we can achieve this, other accomplishments such has districts and regional championship will take care of themselves.

    PHILOSOPHY/MOTTO:

Philosophy-We want to be a team that plays pressure defense and uses that pressure to create easy scoring opportunities in transition.

Motto-Our motto has been #DMGB, which stands for Don’t Matter Get Better.
